Snow's BBQ in Lexington

Here is Jimi's write up of Snow's BBQ, rated the best bbq in the state last year by Texas Monthly. -Mic

We set out at 9:15 AM for Lexington. Texas roads sometimes seem to go on forever...

...but there are always some interesting things to be found along the way. What I want to know is: where is the wild hog selling station?

Snow's dining area. This picture isn't really blurred. The pits surround the picnic tables and the smoke is thick out there.

We arrived at 10:15 to find a sign that read 'no pork today. sorry'. This was troublesome. No pork means a higher demand for other meats. Snow's only serves on Saturday. Open at 8:00, out of meat by noon. We showed up just in time to get the last of the brisket. The other available options were sausage(beef), and chicken. We passed on the chicken, but got some sausage. If ya go to Snow's, prepare to show up early if you want to eat!! If Jimi doesn't look too enthusiastic in this photo, it's only because he's not a fan of beef sausage. Michelle, however, enjoyed the sausage thoroughly.

This is the sort of look we expect to see on Jimi's face when eating award-winning BBQ! The brisket was phenomenal...tender fatty bits, crispy smoky bits, plain white bread and homemade sauce served in recycled Ozarka bottles on the side. D'lish!

This is the pitmaster. Actually, pitmistress. She's got a very manly walk and a face like a dried apple, but she CLEARLY knows how to be kind and gentle to meat.

The stockyards at the end of Main Street. After bloating ourselves somewhat, we decided to take a short walk. Wish we had taken video so you could hear the incessant mooing that added a backdrop to a truly quintessentially Texan dining experience.
